Why Fever-Tree Is Committed to the Fight Against Malaria

At Fever-Tree, our story is rooted in the same ingredient that has long been vital in the fight against malaria: quinine. Derived from the bark of the cinchona (“Fever-Tree”) tree, quinine was one of the first effective treatments for malaria and remains a symbol of the link between nature, science, and wellbeing. It’s also the key ingredient that gives our tonic waters their distinctive, crisp bitterness.

But for us, this connection runs deeper than flavour. Many of the regions where our ingredients are sourced, such as parts of Central and Eastern Africa, are still heavily impacted by malaria today. The communities we work with are not just partners in sourcing the finest botanicals; they are families and farmers whose livelihoods and health are directly affected by this disease.

That’s why Fever-Tree is proud to support initiatives and organisations dedicated to malaria prevention and treatment. From funding life-saving mosquito nets to supporting community health education, we are committed to helping reduce the burden of malaria in the areas where we source our ingredients and beyond.

We are also honoured to work with the world-renowned Jenner Institute, helping to fund pioneering malaria vaccine research. The Jenner Institute’s ground-breaking work represents one of the most promising advances in global health, and we’re proud to play a small part in accelerating progress towards a world free from malaria.

As a company inspired by a remarkable natural remedy, we believe it’s our responsibility to contribute to the ongoing fight against one of the world’s oldest and deadliest diseases. The battle against malaria is far from over, but together, we can make a lasting difference.
